Champions League Thread [2011/2012]

Post by Mike » 7 years ago

Use this thread to talk about this year's Champions League.

Man City lost against Napoli last night and it looks like they'll do well to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Arsenal also host Borussia Dortmund tonight, where a win will guarantee qualification if The Gunners achieve a win.

Group stages are ending tonight and tomorrow. Who do you think will (and will not) progress?

Arsenal already through. Manchester United will join them, as they're in an easy group. Chelsea should quality, but expect a tough game from Valencia. City won't qualify for me. They won't beat Bayern and Napoli won't lose to Villarreal...... and good riddance! :)

Arsenal: Fabianski, Djourou, Vermaelen, Squillaci, Santos, Frimpong, Coquelin, Benayoun, Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh.

A good team. We don't need a win, but I still hope we can get 3 points. Can't wait to see The Ox in action again. A lad with so much potential, who hopefully, with go on to become an Arsenal great - like Theo, but better! ;)

Always liked AOC ever since I saw him play for Southampton. Such a good signing. Probably the best move for him going to Arsenal.

You lucky gits!! :P

Far from upset about tonight's result. We didn't merit to pick up 3 points, but we're already through so the Champions league smile is still there. ;)

Gutted about Santos' injury though. Been told he'll be out "for a while". He left the stadium in a protective boot apparently too.

We literally have no full backs now. :|

Miguel will probably play left back, he definitely impressed me. Composed player.

As soon as Diaby come back, he picked up a "muscular problem". His injury record has been terrible, ever since that horrific tackle from that thug at Sunderland.

Sadly, it appears that Dan Smith may have ruined Abou's career.

Jenkinson is still a fair few weeks away. From now on, we're going to have to play with 4 centre backs in the defence! :?

Arsenal didn't really turn up last night. Although it's hard to blame them when they were already through.

Chelsea also did well. Drogba looks like he's back in his once-great form.

Now for tonight - still think (hope) City go out. United should win. Like I say, all the other teams in their group are pretty poor - especially Basle. Fergie should walk if they don't win tonight! :P

So it's opposite-night tonight. City going through and United going out. Wouldn't mind if the situation reversed itself. ;)

Knockouts tonight. Big chance for Arsenal to have a good night in Milan. As a Londoner, I really hope they can get a famous win tonight. :-)

Score predictions, lads? ;)

Been excited for this match all day. Really can't wait for kick off and the Champions League anthem to blare out.

I won't be giving you a score prediction, as I don't want to jinx myself, but I will stick my neck out and tell you that we're going to win - or at least score a couple of away goals!

Hearing Rosicky is in for Oxlade Chamberlain. Not sure what to think of that one really. Would have been nice to see The Ox take on the Milan defence. Ah well, I'm sure he'll come on and do something late on.

Also read that Arsenal are complaining about the poor pitch. A lot of players have been injured at the San Siro, apparently. Not exactly what Arsenal will want! :?

Look at what they've done to the pitch!

You can try, but you won't be able to keep up with Theo and The Ox. ;)
