Don't know how real/likely it is but I read it earlier on a site. Old Adey isn't the most liked ex arsenal player so I guess it could happen.

Fellow Gooners, what is going on? What are other peoples thoughts on these transfer stories/rumours that are currently going around?

I know we don't have to believe everything we read, but we can certainly only make up our own minds regarding stories that are printed in the papers etc. Now I am sure I am not the only one who has been getting excited about the players we've been linked to. Not neccessarily the "players" themselves but it's the calibre of the player. I don't really want Rooney or that RatC**t Suarez but I they are exactly what Arsenal have been crying out for.

Maybe it's the heat but I seem to be getting more and more wound up each morning when I read the news. I know Wenger has always kept his cards close to his chest but it drives me absolutely crazy. Yes I know he keeps saying that we can afford his wages but are we actually really trying to sign him? Arsenal under Wenger have always had a bit of class when it comes to dealing with transfers but I feel he owes the fans to open up a bit more. Especially with the fact that some fans are on his back. I am not talking about being as open as Harry Redknapp who will give an interview from his car saying, "yep we are after him", or "I think we need 3 or 4 top players so I hope the chairman backs me". But he needs to speak up a bit more.

This Higuain deal is doing my nut in aswell. Pretty much exactly a month ago I went to Egypt for 2 weeks. On the days leading up to my Hol, it was written all over the papers that it was looking a very likely deal. I was of course checking the news everyday but nothing ever seemed to develop and it is now dragging on for over a month. News today say Real are now demanding about 35m. This is ridiculous, now Napoli are lurking with their 54million in hand from the Cavani sale.

In my Arsenal time, from about 1988 to now I don't recall Arsenal ever signing a true "world class" player. I've only spend about 10 seconds thinking about it but the big names we've signed in past haven't been at the level of Rooney.

Bergkamp - was struggling at Inter but obviously had huge pedigree from Ajax
Platt - PLayed for the Big itailian clubs but was passed his peak
Suker - Passed his peak
Gilberto - World cup winner and played every minute for Brazil during the tourney but not a massive name
Arshavin - He's probably been our biggest name to join but we he wasn't playing at a huge club.

Signing Rooney would be huge but I can't see it happening at all. Buying a player from a team in the league who are higher than us. We normally only sell to our rivals.

And finally lets bring Fab back asap. Slot him in anyway. Next season is looking more likely though. If we let him go to utd then I'd probably have to stop watching football all together.

Now I better do some work ; )

I think it's vital for Wenger to keep his cards close to his chest because we can't let Chelsea, Man City, Man United, PSG, Barcelona and the other big spenders know which players are worth investing in. You can only do so much, mainly because of greedy agents, but just look back at the players we should have signed. Even Cristiano Ronaldo was given his own Arsenal shirt at Colney and was destined to sign... until, for whatever reason, Man United swooped in and bought him. AW says he will one day tell us what happened over this deal but I assume it's something that could land Man United in hot water.

Do what I do and take all transfer rumours with a pinch of salt. Until they're confirmed on Arsenal.com, do not take it seriously. And although the season is kicking off in a few weeks' time, don't forget we still have 44 days left until the window closes. AW knows what he needs and I'm sure he'll deliver - like he's done in recent years with Cazorla, Mertesacker, Podolski, Arteta, Chamberlain, Jenkinson, etc. I'm not saying he's perfect but he's clearly a very intelligent man. His only issue, unlike Ferguson (and now Moyes), Mourinho and Pellegrini is the fact he's got a budget to work with. I know the press don't let reporting it but Arsenal are one of very few top clubs who live in the real world - and as fans, I believe that should be something to be proud of. :-)

As for the deals you mentioned, I would take Fabregas over Suarez and Rooney. I'm not going to get my hopes up but I honestly believe there's a chance he'll return home this summer.

I remember reading that Carlos Queiroz had something to do with the Ronaldo deal, but no doubt there is quite a bit to it.

Yeah I'd take Fab over those two. There is a sneaky chance but AW seems to think he will stay at Barca for another year. He's clearly home sick ; ) Seeing his passion when he scored that break away goal against spurs when we robbed them from kick off, or that 25 yarder against AC in the San Siro, I just don't see that passion at Barca.

Yeah, but don't worry fellow arsenal fans. I am sure Wenger will find "the next" Higuain from somewhere : S

Spend some f'ing cash Arsene!

As Giroud has scored about 30 in 3 games I wouldn't surprised if Wenger doesn't bother with anyone.

And as it seems we can only target one person at a time, I fear that a CB will now take priority.

Lets cancel all future "publicity" friendly tours as it seems we can't do business on the road.

I read this morning that Ancelotti has dismissed these reports. God I hate transfer windows, so much BS floating around. :(

That's the problem. We need to do these kind of tours to increase our revenues, sponsorships, fanbase, and everything else. As much as I hate to admit it, going to small, quiet Austrian villages for pre-season isn't profitable enough.

Would ye take suarez for that price ? He will look like a right mug. The reason for him looking for a transfer was the English media. I'm pretty sure London is in England, Either way he is going to be ridiculed if he stays in England. Hes dug his grave now with everything hes done.

Time to walk away from Suarez now. 40mil is way too much anyway. Lets not go higher. Only hope is if he kicks up a fuss (which I am sure he's more than capable of) and forces a deal. Can see this dragging on until deadline day which isn't that bigger a problem consider he will miss the first 6 games anyway.

Just hope all our eggs are not in the basket on this one. Need to look at others. Hopefully not bitey racists either.

Good on Liverpool though for being hard on the situation. If it were Arsenal I am sure we would have crumnbled by now and accepted a bid about half his value.
